What Is PIMS?

PIMS stands for Petition Information Management Systems. For us, it means that we need to fax or email the US Consulate Tijuana 1) Copy of Visa Appointment 2) Copy of I-797 so that the required information can be entered into the USCIS database before your appointment date.

It normally takes upto 48 hours for this to happen but I strongly recommend doing it at least a week before your appoinment. These days the consulate notifies the applicant(s) by email about the completion of PIMS process. So, do not forget to include your email id in the cover letter if you choose to fax them the documents. 

PIMS BY EMAIL: 

This is the more preferred method since the consulate staff then just has to reply to your email on completion of the PIMS process. You can email them a cover letter (as body of the email) and attach copies of Visa Appt Letter and I-797 to the email at tijuanainfo@state.gov

You can expect their reply in 3-5 business days.

PIMS BY FAX:

You can fax these documents with the cover letter as the first page at 011 52 664 634 3069 and expect a reply in 3-5 business days.

In both the cases, you can also call them at 011 52 664 634 3045 to follow-up about the PIMS process. But lately, they have been asking people to look forward to a email.
